UMass Extension is part of the Center for Agriculture, Food and the Environment at UMass Amherst. It is the Massachusetts partner in the national Cooperative Extension System and addresses public concerns of high priority for the Commonwealth. Extension provides educational opportunities, resources, training and applied research in agricultural and commercial horticulture areas as well as in food science, environmental, water and energy topics. UMass Extension provides nutrition education to low-income families and individuals and is also home to 4-H youth development in the state.

UMass Amherst has announced its Spring 2021 operating plan, inviting additional students to return to campus to advance their studies.
