When Nilanjana "Buju" Dasgupta came to the United States as an international student, she felt for the first time what it was like to be a person in the minority—an experience that has stuck with her throughout her professional career. Today, she is professor of psychology and director of the Institute of Diversity Sciences (IDS) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
