At the Homecoming Block Party this year, CNS will host a science showcase for CNS alumni, families, students, and the community to interact with our college. Be sure to stop by on Friday, October 28th from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on the Metawampe Lawn to check out these exhibits!
Fernald Club Bug Bonanza
The Fernald Club promotes entomology through scientific research, conservation, and outreach education. The club will host an exhibit of insects in their collection. They’ll also have club stickers, T-shirts, and candy at their table for visitors.
Strawberry DNA Extraction with the Biochemistry Club
The Biochemistry Club provides undergraduate students opportunities to explore careers in the life sciences field. The club will lead tent visitors through an activity to extract the DNA from strawberries.
Mendel’s Jack-o-Lantern & Are You a Supertaster? With the Genetics Club
The Genetics Club promotes opportunities for students to connect with research opportunities in the genetics field. Their club will host a make your own paper Jack-o-Lantern activity and a supertaster activity with PTC strips. The club will also have candy for visitors!
Small-Scale Solar System with the Five College Astronomy Club
The Five College Astronomy Club serves to foster a love of astronomy in students of all disciplines. The club will host a small-scale model of the solar system throughout the tent.
Mind Games with the Neuroscience Club
The Neuroscience Club strengthens the relationship between faculty, undergraudate, and graduate students interested in neuroscience and related disciplines. They will host a brain model and present information about regions of the brain. They’ll also have a trivia game and candy for the winners.
