Director of Faculty Development Programs
As director of faculty development programs, Wendy Varner implements and coordinates programs to enhance the success of all faculty in the College of Natural Sciences. Working with the associate dean for faculty and research, she provides leadership for administrative operations of faculty development and research programs including program planning, execution and management, coordination with other campus units relevant to research and faculty development, and program evaluation and reports to inform CNS’s goals for faculty success across the span of their career.
Varner holds a master's in education from Harvard University with a focus on administration, planning, and social policy. At UMass Amherst she was previously the associate director of the Center for Research on Families and grants and research manager for the Center for Public Policy and Administration. She also has extensive experience in community-based anti-poverty agencies.
