Cross-disciplinary

TIMBR’s team of investigators from eleven disciplines within the College of Engineering and the College of Natural Sciences focus their combined curiosity, perspectives, talent and expertise on the challenges of realizing the potential for advanced biorenewable fuels and chemicals.  The teams are made up of investigators whose emphasis is on pursuing fundamental research that will lead to the development of new and innovative approaches that disrupt state-of-the-art science and lead to greater productivity.

New investigators joining the research teams renew the vitality and vigor of the institute with insights and perspectives based upon the quality and capacity of their individual biorenewables-related research.  In recent years noted experts in the areas of biomass trait optimization and biomass chemical conversion have contributed to the success of the institute.  The addition of these highly successful investigators demonstrates the commitment of the participating departments to provide opportunity and resources to accomplish meaningful research.
