New Institute for Diversity Sciences awards inaugural seed grants
Nilanjana “Buju” Dasgupta, Psychological & Brain Sciences, director of the Institute of Diversity Sciences, and College of Natural Sciences director of faculty equity and inclusion, along with the institute steering committee, recently announced the first six multidisciplinary teams that have won seed grants of up to $12,000 to conduct preliminary studies investigating new research questions about the causes or consequences of group disparities or diversity from many angles. Dasgupta says, “The long game is to advance each project to the next stage of seeking larger, competitive external grants.” The institute brings together faculty and students across colleges and schools whose research focuses on human diversity or disparities from multiple scientific angles, Dasgupta says, to foster innovative transdisciplinary research and education. CNS faculty in winning teams include Jennifer M. McDermott and Lisa Sanders, both of Psychological & Brain Sciences. Read more.
