Lecturer - Junior Year Writing
The College of Natural Sciences is searching for two full-time, nine month, non-tenure track Lecturer positions for the academic year 2014-2015.
Renewable Position: This position is renewable with continuation contingent on the availability of funding and performance.
Temporary One-year Position: This position is a temporary, one-year position with the possibility of continuation contingent on availability of funding, performance and sufficient class enrollments.
This position is renewable with continuation contingent on the availability of funding and performance. The Junior Year Writing (JYW) Lecturer reports to the Associate Dean for Academics and is responsible for teaching junior year writing for the students in the Life Sciences. Appointment will begin September 1, 2014.
Responsibilities will include teaching multiple sections of JYW in the fall and spring semesters and collaborating with other JYW Lecturers and the UMass Writing Center.
Candidates must have a Master's degree in a relevant field, a successful teaching record at the college level, and the ability to interact with students and faculty from diverse academic programs. Preferred qualifications include experience teaching composition and/or writing courses and/or courses with a strong written element in a relevant field, proven ability to handle a full-time course load, experience teaching to mixed disciplines, background in relevant science topics, science writing and/or teaching/editing in the sciences, interest or experience in supporting Career Development and Information Literacy in the classroom.
