The Center for Research on Families, in collaboration with the Office of Research Development, is hosting another “I’m a PI, Now What?” workshop series and you don’t want to miss out. Building off the success of the fall program, in which 40+ faculty members participated; we hope to serve a new set of faculty members from all disciplines across campus. The kickoff event of the series will take place on February 10th, 2012 in the Campus Center, Room 1001.

Led by Maureen Perry-Jenkins, Professor in the Psychology Department, who has many years of experience leading large grant-funded projects, the workshop will cover how faculty member would start to administer, team-lead and disseminate a funded research grant. It will provide a road map to the somewhat daunting path researchers face when taking on a large grant-funded project. Attendees will then be able to meet with their peers and discuss their particular challenges.

The program is intended to assist faculty PIs in managing the sometimes challenging tasks of getting all the administrative work completed on a grant while staying focused on the really important piece...the research! It covers topics such as overall PI responsibilities, working with subcontractors, hiring and supervising staff, monitoring budgets, and reporting strategies. The program has been developed by senior (grant-funded) faculty who has ‘been there’ and can provide strategies and information based on their experience.

Plus, this is a great opportunity to network with other PIs on campus!
